From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can expect learning which players will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
